01 Start by processing your order through the shopping cart system. Remember there is no cost to you but you do have to process the order. The action is stored in a compressed.ZIP file which will be downloaded to your computer. You will need to expand or decompress this file before you can use them.
02 Windows users should right-click the file and choose Expand All from the pop-up menu, Mac users just need to double-click the file to expand it. Choose where you want the decompressed file to be saved and then click OK to complete the process. You will now have a file called "BPT Actions PSE.atn".
03 Next you will need to move (or copy) the contents of the "BPT Actions.atn" file to the directory where Photoshop Elements can see the action. This is different for Windows and Mac users. Here are the locations for Win7 and Mac OSX:
- Win7 - C DRIVE-ProgramData-Adobe-Photoshop Elements-9.0-Locale-en_US-Workflow Panels-actions (you may need to display the hidden system files on you machine so you can see the ProgramData folder. Search for the Folder Options dialogue and select the "Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives" option the the Advanced Settings sections of the View Tab.
- MacOSX -System library/Application Support /Adobe /Photoshop Elements /9.0/Locale/en_US/Workflow Panels/actions
NOTE: These locations assume you are working with Elements 9 with US English. Change the folder names to the version number you own and the install language you used e.g. en_GB for international english.
04 To add the new action set to Elements you will need to restart the program and then go to the Guided Edit workspace. Open an example image and then click the Actions player in the list in the panel on the right.
05 Next choose the BPT Actions set from the drop-down menu. Some of the features used in the original action, the Black & White and Color Balance adjustment layers, are not supported in Elements so I have included a PSE version of the action (BPT Tone Grain Border PSE) that uses alternative features to produce a similar effect. Click the Play button to run the action.
PLEASE NOTE: Our Actions have been tested on Photoshop Elements 9 but may also work on other versions of the program. Also note that though we have tested theaction and the installation instructions listed here we hold no responsibility for loss or damage of your data brought about by incorrect usage of these assets.
